June is the month the list changes shape. Hawaii hits its best weather of the year, Fiji is in its dry season, and the Mediterranean is finally warm enough to swim. The Caribbean is still good, but Atlantic hurricane season starts June 1, so our scores take off a small storm penalty.
Maui comes first, with a perfect 10 for June weather and almost no rain. Only three of our 64 islands score a 10 for June, and all three are in Hawaii. Curaçao, Fiji and Oahu are within 0.13 points of the top.

1Maui scores a perfect 10 for June weather: highs of 84°F (29°C), an 80°F (27°C) sea and 0.2 inches (6 mm) of rain. Beaches and things to do score 9 each, the best in the top four. Price is the only drag: $216 a night in Kihei on July 14, 2027. No passport, and nonstops from 18 US airports. Dry weather makes this the month for the Hana road and Haleakala ($30 a car).
2Curaçao is the safest Caribbean bet for June, with a 9.7 weather score: highs of 87°F (31°C), an 83°F (28°C) sea and 1.7 inches of rain. Hurricane season has started, but Curaçao sits south of the main track, so our penalty is halved. A Willemstad room was $62 on July 14, 2027. Nonstops come from 6 US airports. Rent a car for the cove beaches and shore snorkeling.
3Fiji is in its dry season, and June's weather scores 9.6: highs of 83°F (29°C), an 82°F (28°C) sea and 2.3 inches of rain. Value and crowds both score 10, with a Nadi room at $39 on July 14, 2027. Fiji Airways flies nonstop from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Honolulu, and US citizens need no visa for up to four months. Stay on a Mamanuca island; the mainland beaches are average.
4Oahu scores a perfect 10 for June weather: highs of 83°F (28°C), an 80°F (26°C) sea and 1.0 inch of rain. It is the cheaper Hawaii option, at $169 in Waikiki on July 14, 2027, with nonstops from 28 US airports. Summer is the North Shore's calm season, when Waimea Bay and Shark's Cove are often swimmable. Crowds keep it behind Maui. Pearl Harbor is free.
5Sicily's June weather scores 9.5: highs of 85°F (30°C), a 76°F (24°C) sea and 0.8 inches of rain. It has more to do than any island on the site, a 10: Palermo, Agrigento, Siracusa's Ortigia and Etna. Delta flies JFK to Catania, and United adds Newark to Catania from May 28, 2027. A Taormina room was $140 on July 14, 2027. San Vito Lo Capo is the calmest family beach.
6Crete's June weather scores 9.3: highs of 84°F (29°C), a 75°F (24°C) sea and 0.4 inches of rain. Beaches score 9 and things to do 9.5: Elafonisi, Balos, Knossos and Chania. A Chania room was $112 on July 14, 2027. Access holds it below Sicily, with no US nonstop, so you fly via Athens. The summer meltemi wind starts about mid-May, and Samaria Gorge is closed until further notice.
7Puerto Rico's June weather scores 9.1 after a small hurricane-season penalty: highs of 87°F (30°C), an 84°F (29°C) sea and 2.6 inches of rain. It has the most US nonstops on this list, from 41 airports, and a $114 San Juan room on July 14, 2027. No passport needed. Early season is usually quieter than August to October, but book flexible rates. Rincon's surf is calmer in summer.
8Jamaica's June weather scores 9.1: highs of 87°F (30°C), an 85°F (30°C) sea and 2.6 inches of rain, with a hurricane-season penalty. A $53 room in Montego Bay on July 14, 2027 and 24 US nonstops keep it high. Its verdict is conditional after Hurricane Melissa; the Tourist Board lists seven large Montego Bay resorts only as reopening in 2027, so check yours. Negril and Ocho Rios are open now.
9Mallorca's June weather scores 9.4: highs of 83°F (28°C), a 75°F (24°C) sea and 0.9 inches of rain, before the August crowds. United flies Newark to Palma nonstop in season, daily from May 26, 2027. A Palma room was $135 on July 14, 2027, plus the Balearic tourist tax per night. Palma, the Tramuntana villages and the family bays of Alcúdia and Pollença fill a week.
10Zanzibar's long rains are over, and June's weather scores 9.6: highs of 82°F (28°C), an 82°F sea and 2.8 inches of rain. Value keeps it on the list, with a Nungwi room at $41 on July 14, 2027. Access is the catch: no US nonstop, then a $100 Tanzania visa and $44 of mandatory insurance per person. Stone Town and the spice farms add culture to the beach days. Pick the north coast for swimming.

Each island's score is 55% its June weather and 45% our other scores: beaches, things to do, access, hotel value and crowds. June weather combines the daytime high, sea temperature, rain and sunshine from ten years of data, minus a storm-season penalty where one applies. Islands must score at least 7 for June weather, and no region takes more than three places. The formula is in how we score islands.
Maui's June weather scores 10.0, with an average of 0.2 inches of rain. It also has the best beaches and things to do in the top four, a 9 for each. That outweighs its price: $216 in Kihei on July 14, 2027, against $62 in Curaçao and $39 in Fiji.
Pick Oahu (#4) for the same weather at $169 in Waikiki and no rental car. Pick Fiji for a cheaper, farther trip. Pick Curaçao for the Caribbean with the lowest storm risk. Our Hawaii ranking for June compares all six islands.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, but NOAA's National Hurricane Center puts most activity between mid-August and mid-October. That is why our June penalty is small, and why Puerto Rico and Jamaica still make the list. Curaçao, south of the usual track, gets half the penalty. Book refundable rates anyway. The Central Pacific season also starts June 1. 2026 was unusual for Hawaii: Lowell hit Kauai directly in September, and Lala struck the Big Island in August.
June is the first month the Mediterranean qualifies for a beach trip on our scale. Sicily, Crete and Mallorca are dry and hot, with seas still cooler than the Caribbean's. It is also before the August peak in crowds. Summer 2027 brings more flights: United starts Newark to Catania on May 28 and Newark to Olbia, in Sardinia, on May 27. Our summer hotel prices are for Wednesday, July 14, 2027, with taxes in, the nearest date we priced. Maui, Oahu and Puerto Rico need no passport. Zanzibar adds a $100 Tanzania visa and $44 of mandatory insurance, and Fiji gives US citizens up to four months visa-free.
Breakfast, a deli lunch and water are included; tips are not. It is a long day in a van on a narrow road, and the sign-up page lists pickup at hotels or a Kahului meeting point, so check which applies to you.
